1You started dancing at an extremely young age, growing up was there ever a dream to do something besides be a performer?
From a very young age, growing up in an artistic household with my father, who was a composer, and my mother, who was an architect, I have always felt compelled to inspire people through performing.
2In 2007 you were cast for Nike as a feminist, hip-hop role model, how did it feel being chosen for this role with women’s rights being such a huge topic over the last few years?
I feel very fortunate to have been given that opportunity at such a young age, and at the start of my career. Being a part of the campaigns actually raised my awareness and heightened my sensitivity to women’s empowerment, such a timely topic in today’s social and political climate. I continue to support women and encourage them to pursue their passions, in every way I can.
3If you could only choose one career, what would it be, dancing or acting?
I made that decision 6 years ago– the choice was acting.

4What inspired you to transition from dancing to acting?
I started acting when I was 17. When I moved to LA I studied at the Stella Adler theatre for a long time, when I wasn’t on the road working as a dancer. Purely basing my decision on passion, I decided that acting was the path I wanted to take. Even when dancing I felt driven by characters to guide my performances.
5What is the best pieces of advice you’ve ever received?
To keep having faith and do what you love to do for the right reason–the love of the art.

6Is there a character that you have played or a movie you starred in that has really taught you something or inspired you?
Every film I have been a part of, every character I have played, every set I have been on, have all taught me something. I learn something every day and on every level. Whether it is from the camera crew, the makeup artist, the set designer — I’m constantly learning.
7Is there any kind of movie or role that you absolutely will not agree to?
I tend not to think about what I won’t do, but what inspires me and pushes me forward, towards growing as an artist.
